John Clayton Checks In From Tampa

January 26, 2009 – 2:45 pm by Michael Bean

ESPN NFL Senior Analyst John Clayton is in Tampa and set for a week of Super Bowl coverage. His whirlwind tour of media appearances begins with a chat with the guys at ESPN Radio Pittsburgh. After talking about how Clayton goes about covering the league so consistently for over three decades as well as his early days covering the Steelers, they talk about the game itself and what the keys to the match-up are likely to be. Clayton also talks about the toughness Pittsburgh has developed this year playing such a brutal schedule:

‘To win 12 games against a .525 schedule where they go 7-4 against teams with .500 records you develop a toughness that shows during the playoffs; you don’t panic when you’re trailing in the 3rd quarter; you don’t panic when you make a mistake.”
