Dwayne Wade Talks Dream Teams, All Star Weekend
February 12, 2009 – 2:07 am by Michael Bean
Miami Heat SG Dwayne Wade spent a few minutes talking to ESPN Radio Chicago in his former hometown to talk about his team contending for a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference after the fiasco that was last year, whether or not the Olympic Team he was on this summer could have beaten the ’92 Dream Team. In one word, Wade’s thoughts on whether they’d hang with that legendary collection of stars? Yes.
“It’s night and day because last year was a debacle. We have some young guys in Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers and Daquan Cook and Shawn Marion has come in and played a good role. You know, we’re out there playing hard and we’ve put ourselves in position to be in the playoff picture and we just got to continue to do it knowing that we’re going to have ups and downs because we’re a young team. But we’re a resilient young team.”
Asked if he was going to be looking to move elsewhere when he becomes a free agent in 2010, Wade said:
“This is where I want to retire. I want to wear one jersey for my career.”
