On Your Marks, Get Set, Eat!
February 13, 2009 – 3:40 am by Michael BeanHow about a little change of pace on SRI? After tuning into all the gossip involving Joe Torre two weeks ago then compiling what everybody and their mom had to say about the Alex Rodriguez steroids fall out this week, I think I need a second to catch my breath, grab a couple beers this weekend and get something particularly outstanding to eat.
Speaking of eating.
It’s apparently the off-season in the grueling world of competitive eating.
If you’re the #7 ranked eater in the world though like Hal Hunt is, there is no time off. Just opportunities to ‘train’. The Florida native who played soccer for the Gators (no that’s not a typo, he’s like Kobayashi and much thinner than you’d ever possibly fathom) joined WJXL to talk about Krystal Burgers, and what it’s like to be a competitive eater:
“I did 63 Krystals in eight minutes. Got 6th place at the World Championships in the Finals. And actually they’re going to be coming out with one of the boxes for the Crystal Hamburger boxes. It should be this week. It’s going to have my face on it. I got inducted in to the World Krystal Hall of Fame.”
I hear they call you Mr. Steamer Pack. Is that like lunch for you?
“Because I only go in and order the Steamer Packs. I never order less than 24 at a time. That’s just like a snack on the way home from work.”
