Will T-Sizzle Remain in Baltimore?
February 16, 2009 – 2:05 pm by Jimmy ShapiroThree of the Baltimore Ravens four starting linebackers, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Bart Scott are all free agents. The Ravens need at least two of them to return especially with Rex Ryan no longer their defensive coordinator.
Arizona native Terrell Suggs joins Bickley and MJ on XTRA Sports 910 in Phoenix on Friday while back in his hometown for the NBA All-Star Festivities. You won’t hear many athletes more comfortable in an interview setting than Suggs is with Bickley and MJ. I’m sure they’ve spoken to him dozens of times.
Suggs was franchised last year by the Ravens, wants to stay with the Ravens, but doesn’t want the franchise tag slapped on him again.
“That’s what I want to do. I like the city. I like the team. If they don’t see me in their future long term, do not draw me out when I’m twenty-six. At least let me explore my options. If you want me on your team, then prove it, do something about it. But if not, we need to part ways and you know it’s been a good run.”
Suggs on Ray Lewis shooting down his suggestion of a hometown discount to keep the linebackers together:
“That’s him, I was willing to do it in order to keep all of us here, but I guess not.”
Suggs on playing with Ray Lewis again:
“I hope to have him as a teammate. He’s a wonderful teammate, great mentor, a great brother. But like I said on the NFL Network, your big brother can’t always fight your fights for you. Sometimes you have to step out of big brother’s shadow and fight for yourself.”
