Is Anyone Surprised Larry Brown Has The Bobcats Playing Good Ball?

February 20, 2009 – 1:06 am by Michael Bean

Outside of the New York Knicks fiasco – but hey, we’ll blame that one on Isiah Thomas, no? – Larry Brown has done amazing jobs at just about every stop in his long and well traveled career. You hear very little from the corner of the basketball universe known as Charlotte, but Larry Brown is up to his old tricks in the Tar Heel State, this time doing the unthinkable and making the Bobcats competitive. Listen to Brown on WFNZ talk about the joy of coaching his young team and what he thinks their ceiling is for the remainder of the year and beyond:

“I think personnel wise, you know in the East, we probably could be. The problem is we have so many new people we don’t have training camp’ we’re trying to learn on the fly. It’s like the schoolyard. You tell Joe go down ten yards and turn to the left and I’ll hit you. That’s the way our timeouts are. I don’t know lots of our guys’ strengths and weaknesses and the coaches job and the staffs’ job is to put people in positions where they can be successful, so that’s the question I have right now. But talent wise we’ve certainly upgraded what we’ve had.”
