Drink Up, Booze Is Back
February 23, 2009 – 2:01 pm by Jimmy ShapiroCarlos Boozer revealed today in an interview this morning with KFAN 1320 in Salt Lake City that he will return to court for the first time since November 19th. Initially, the injury to Boozer’s lower quadriceps was supposed to keep him out of action for a few weeks, but it ended up keeping him out of 44 games.
After getting the huge contract in Utah, Boozer only played in 84 games in his first two years and got labeled as soft and injury prone. His next two seasons he missed a combined 9 games, was an absolute beast on the court and that label was seemingly shed. Well, it’s back and the basketball hungry Mormons are none too happy with Mr. Boozer.
Paul Millsap has played great in his absence (although he’s tailed off a bit the last month) and they both will be free agents after the season. Should be an interesting off-season for the Jazz.
Boozer delves into a lot of topics and has much to say about the unfortunate passing of owner Larry Miller. Initially, Boozer on his role with the team starting tonight:
“I expect to start. I think I’ll be limited for the first couple games just to break back into it and be careful. I’ll probably play about 12 to minutes tonight.”
On if he’ll sit on back-to-back games:
“No, I don’t anticipate that at at all. I think I’ll be ready to go as long as my knee is doing great and my body is feeling good I’ll play every game the rest of the way.”
