What You Talking About Willis?

February 25, 2009 – 11:04 am by Jimmy Shapiro

Todd Bridges, better known as Willis Jackson from “Different Strokes”, is about to become a professional wrestler.  Wow, has reality TV extended the lifespan of child actors.  First he kicked the crap out of Vanilla Ice on Fox’s Celebrity Boxing, here’s the video. Then he was on “Skating with the Celebrities”.  The “The Surreal Life” on VH1 and finally he was recently on Hulk Hogan’s reality TV show training has beens how to wrestle.  And now, after all this reality TV he’s decided to try his hand at professional wrestling and he’ll make his debut this Saturday in the Bay Area for Fog City Wrestling.

Bridges is now 44 and has had his share of troubles since “Different Strokes” went off the air.  He had a cocaine addiction, was tried for attempted murder where he was defended by Johnnie Cochran, he’s stabbed an apartment neighbor in the chest in self-defense, but has never done jail time.

Bridges joined Murph and Mac on KNBR in San Francisco to discuss his wrestling debut.

“I really have a lot of respect for wrestlers.  You watch it on TV and think wow that looks easy.  Then they put you through the mill and I’m like wow that’s not easy.”

“It’s an art man. It’s a very physical art and it’s a very physical sport.  It’s enterainment, but it’s a lot of work. I’m coming in to get beat up I guess.  Hopefully I’ll walk out of there alive.”

“My signature moves are the sunset flip and the frog splash.”
