I Would Hate To Have My Money Frozen
February 26, 2009 – 11:11 am by Jimmy ShapiroScott Eyre, lefty reliever for the World Champion Phillies, is one of many people around the world dealing with their financial assets being frozen as the government investigates the alleged $8 billion fraud scheme by Robert Allen Stanford of the Stanford Financial Group. Eyre is one of many athletes that have been affected including Johnny Damon and Vijay Singh.
Eyre, a former Cub, joined Mully and Hanley on WSCR in Chicago and was very upfront about what’s going on with his financial situation.
“I had a couple of teammates offer to give me some money. The Phillies are actually going to give me a check so I can just pay the bills. The money is just frozen, it’s not gone.”
“It sucks. The government put a freeze on everyone’s money. Not that they took our money, but I can’t pay any of my bills because I don’t have access to it.”
“I hope this sucker goes to jail for a long time.”
