Competition Schmompetition

If the NFL was a Disney movie, then every coach would look like Pinocchio. The only thing they have in common is they all lie. Some lie more than others and some lies are bigger than others, but they all lie.
Todd Haley, the new coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, got the hang of this real quick. Working with Bill Parcells in the past and now Scott Pioli now ensures Haley will be one of the biggest liars in the game. Comes with the territory.
Todd Haley held a press conference on Monday after the Chiefs acquired Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel from the Patriots and said that there will be an open competition at quarterback between Matt Cassel and Tyler Thigpen.
“I just got off the phone with Tyler and I told him I’m a very selfish coach, I think that’s evidenced by Arizona and what we did, that we’re going to play the guys that give us the best chance to win. Yeah, Matt Cassel’s coming in here to compete for the starting quarterback position.”
On if Matt Cassel was told he’ll be the starting qb:
No, we hadn’t had any conversation like that.
I actually thought that Tyler Thigpen was pretty decent last year and may end up being a quality NFL quarterback, but he has zero shot of starting over Matt Cassel.
