Checking In With Purple Jesus

Anytime I see an interview with Adrian Peterson, it’s worth taking a listen to.  He’s the most dynamic running back to enter the NFL since Barry Sanders.  He reminds me a bit of LeBron James in that he’s arguably the best player in the game and he still has so much room to improve.  LeBron still isn’t a great shooter and Peterson still isn’t a great receiver and fumbles too much.  That’s scary to think he still can get so much better.  If the Vikings keep surrounding him with the Tarvaris Jackson’s, Gus Frerotte’s, and Sage Rosenfels’ of the world, he’ll never fully reach his potential.

The NFL’s most exciting player was in Atlantic City on Friday to accept his Maxwell Club Pro Player of the Year Award.  Peterson joined Mike Missanelli on ESPN Radio Philadelphia on Friday evening before the Awards Banquet and what sounded like a night full of craps.  Hope the dice were kind to him!

Where do the Vikings figure this year in the NFC picture?

“I don’t know, but I can say coming into OTA’s and Training Camp, after all the different moves have been made, I’m going to come in with the right mindset. You know to build off of last year, getting knocked out the first round of the playoffs, we’re ready to get our feet wet.”

On the fans being on Brad Childress last year:

“To me it’s kinda funny, because he doesn’t control what players do.  He doesn’t control me fumbling the ball or someone throwing an interception.  So I don’t really get into it like that as far as how the fans view coach or their different opinions.”
