SRIs 1st Annual MLB Spring Training Round-Up: National League Central Edition
March 13, 2009 – 9:11 am by Michael BeanSRI continues its spring training audio round up with a look at the National League Central, one of the more quality divisions in baseball last year thanks to St. Louis playing much better ball than expected, and a late season barrage of victories from the Houston Astros. Lou Piniella and the Chicago Cubs won the division fairly handily however, and are the favorites to repeat again in 2009. Don’t tell that to the young Milwaukee Brewers though. It took them awhile to get things in gear last year, but once the temperature warmed up and baseballs started jumping off the bats of their explosive young hitters, the Brew Crew found their groove and ultimately secured a Wild Card, their first post season appearance since 1982.
