In Which Nate Newton Tells a Story to Michael Irvin About the Time That He Found Himself in a Similar Situation to Dirk Nowitzki

Nate Newton has had some run-ins with the law the past few years. And, apparently, based on a story he told to Michael Irvin recently, he’s had a similar run-in with a lady-friend, although with different results.
Newton’s notorious for having been arrested with 213 pounds of pot in a van only to be busted with another huge shipment of dope several weeks later. So, needless to say, Newton’s got some stories.
Said story is transcribed below, but I highly recommend listening to the entire story.
“It did happen to me, but not on the grandest scale as what happened to Dirk. The young lady claimed she was pregnant and I went into a panic and I gave her some money … About $3,500. And about an hour lately, this dude rolled up to me and said, “That lady’s scamming you.” I had been with the chick like six months … When the dude told me, the first thing I did was go and front her, but I let it go, you know, I said that was the best $3,500 I ever spent. She ain’t pregnant, she used the big fella …”
On what the $3,500 was for and did she tell Nate it was an abortion:
“Whatever she needed … Um, hmm, yeah. And she played the whole gang, because I was sitting out in the car waiting, man, and when I went to front her, she ran back into the facilities. And I said, “Big Fella, take this on the chin and be happy that this here is not what it is.” And that’s why I look at Dirk and say, “I know what you’re going through player, and you better be glad someone saved you from yourself.” If that dude had caught me an hour earlier, I’d have been laughing at her, but in this case she’s laughing at me. But it doesn’t near compare to a $250,000 ring or what Dirk, letting her live in the house.
And I’ve seen the young lady since then and she was kind of nervous and thought I was going to come up to her in an ignorant way. I walked up to her and hugged her. And she said, “Why you hugging me?” And I said, “Because all you cost me was $3,500. $3,500 and six months of good times man!!”
