Aaron Rodgers, Never Living Up to Favre’s Expectations
May 15, 2009 – 7:30 am by Will Brinson
Aaron Rodgers has a tough job because he’s replacing Brett Favre; fortunately, his chances of being compared to Favre seem to be decreasing by the day as No. 4 continues to make an ass out of himself publicly.
But that doesn’t mean Rodgers can get away from talking about Favre — even when Homer of ESPN Milwaukee tries not to talk about it. Rodgers discusses the possibility of dealing with Favre in a Minnesota jersey, Ted Thompson/Rodgers vs. Favre if it happens, on a quiet offseason and also how close Green Bay was to getting Tony Gonzalez.
On Tony Gonzalez to the Packers rumors being true:
“They are correct … I heard there was a third [round pick] on the table. But the Chiefs wanted a second … From what I hear we were [very] close.”
On this offseason, re: Brett Favre:
“No, it’s been a good offseason. It’s interesting to see — last summer kind of put me on the map maybe more than I expected. I’m a little more recognizable, even when I leave Green Bay … But it’s definitely a lot more low key than last year, but we’re not to August just yet, so we haven’t closed the book on this offseason yet.”
On Brett Favre in Minnesota:
“It would be different. It would be a different feeling to look across the field and see him wearing a — I’d assume that John David Booty would give him No. 4 — but it would be different to see him in a purple “4″ jersey.”
On everyone seeing it as Ted Thompson/Rodgers v. Favre:
“I think that is strictly for the fans and for the media personalities. I was asked a similar question last year and I said the same thing, about Peyton Manning — but you’re not playing Peyton Manning, you’re playing the Indianapolis Colts’ defense … But I’m big enough to realize the Green Bay Packers are bigger than Aaron Rodgers.”

Rodgers is the man. He is the epitome of class and my oh my how he outperformed Favre last year straight up.
Favre is a tool. Favre needs to retire and go back and get his GED this summer. Peter King reported Favre was hopefully going to pass the GED even with his ailing right arm.

The Packers will never get even close to playing in another Super Bowl with Rogers, McCarthy & Thompson. Thompson screwed up and the Green Bay Packers will not improve until all 3 are gone. I feel sorry for the other players, but they’ll still be paid for losing seasons.
