Is Anquan Boldin One Step Closer to Deal With The Arizona Cardinals? Teammate Larry Fitzgerald Weighs In

If you think about it, it wasn’t until the Arizona Cardinals went on their magical run through the NFC Playoffs that the national punditry really started to give wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald the attention he rightfully deserves as arguably the best playmaker at wideout in the National Football League. He doesn’t punch teammates in the face, cry for the ball, change his name to non-sensical Spanish, etc. etc. He does make plays – lots of them – for Ken Whisenhunt’s up and rising Arizona Cardinals squad. Fitz joined KTAR in Phoenix late last week to talk about his offseason, his expectations for himself and the team now that all eyes will be on them, and about fellow wide receiver Anquan  Boldin, whose future with the team still remains murky as training camp draws ever closer.

On whether or not he thinks the team needs to quit worrying about the ‘future’ and play for the ‘now’. (IN OTHER WORDS DON’T TRADE ANQUAN BOLDIN):

“I agree, I agree. You know, the future is so uncertain that we have to deal with the now. We have a really good group of guys, the nucleus of our club is strong and I think we just need to keep as many guys from the team last year together.

On teammate Anquan Boldin informing Drew Rosenhaus that he would be firing him as his agent and looking elsewhere. The name brought up was Tom Condon.  Fitz commented on the interesting development and whether or not Boldin sought out Fitz’s advice on the matter:

“Haha, that’s funny. Anybody who knows Anquan knows that Anquan doesn’t ask for advice. [more chuckling]. No, me and Q don’t talk about that kind of stuff. We have a real good relationship but we very rarely talk about business. More so about family and what’s going on in the community and stuff like that. But I just want Q to be happy – if he’s with Drew, that’s fine; if he’s with Tom Condon, that’s fine. I just want him to be happy and be able to get what he rightfully deserves no matter who’s representing him. But you’re agent definitely does help out a lot in terms of dealing with the team. So, my agent had a lot of success dealing with the Cardinals, not in terms of money success and stuff like that, but just do good negotiations. He’s got a good relationship with Rod Graves and I think he’ll take that into account.”
