Brad Childress Finally Speaks About Brett Favre Situation

June 10, 2009 – 10:15 am by Michael Bean

It’s getting to be that time of summer when Brett Favre needs to make his decision about whether or not he’d like to unretire (again) and return to the National Football League. The team, of course, Favre is looking to join is the Minnesota Vikings – longtime rivals of the Green Bay Packers. We all think it’s going to happen, right? Right? Well, what about Brad Childress, the Vikings coach? What’s his take on it? Let’s find out. He joined KFAN in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning to talk about the situation for the first time.

On if he’s been down to Mississippi to check on Favre’s rehab:

“I can tell you I haven’t been to Mississippi since I was recruiting an athlete in Jackson back in the ’80s.”

On whether or not there was a deadline placed on Favre to report to Vikings practice this week:

“Absolutely not. Maybe by Deanna [Favre] or somebody like that, but certainly not from me. Not even close. I don’t know where that would have dropped out of the sky from.”

So there’s been no deadline set by the Vikings for Favre?

“No, because, I don’t know how you guys in your industry go about your sourcing – a source of a source said – I don’t know, but it’s questionable. Very questionable.”

On if there might be a date in the near future where a timetable is set for Favre’s potential return:

“I don’t know. I’m not into predicting the future. We’ll just have to see what’s around the corner tomorrow.”
