Tyler Hansbrough Thinks He Might Be Going Higher Than 12; Proceeds to Make Blogger Jokes

June 12, 2009 – 7:34 am by Will Brinson

Tyler Hansbrough is possibly my least favorite athlete of all time; it’s because I’m an NC State fan and detest the North Carolina TarHeels, not because of the standard Hansbrough-hate. So, as such, I think it’s amusing that he probably won’t be a great/good NBA player.

But don’t tell him that, apparently — in a recent interview with WFNZ, Hansbrough actually stated that he might be drafted higher┬áthan 12 (where the Bobcats, a.k.a. Carolina Graduate School for Basketball Crappiness are slotted). Also, being motivated by people’s doubts, his performance at the combine, and how he doesn’t really care what people in basements making mock drafts think about him. SIGH.

On the Bobcats’ interest at #12:

“Nah, I don’t think so — I think I have a chance to go a little higher [than 12th] but we’ll see what happens … It’s hard to tell right now, it’s still early a lot of things can happen, but the draft is approaching and we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”

On how well his combine went:

“Yeah, I mean, I’m just doing what I do. A lot of people have doubted me and things like that, which is great — it seems like I’m proving a lot of people wrong. Still at the same time, I do it because the NBA has always been a dream of mine and, like I said, I’m not going out there and doing anything that I haven’t done before, a lot of people just don’t see some of the skills I have or they don’t think I’m as athletic as I am. Which I am.”

On being motivated by people’s doubts:

“Well, yeah it does motivate me a little bit. Still at the same time I kind of laugh at it. These are probably a bunch of guys who just sit in their basements and probably just write out mock drafts and do this or do that. They haven’t followed me for four years and they haven’t seen exactly what I’ve done or they wouldn’t be saying that stuff. I could really care less what they’re going to think but I’m just going to go out and do what I do and see what happens.”

  2. Uh yeah, he’ll be drafted by the Jazz, he’ll have a decent career, much unlike many recent NCSU bball grads, or have they graduated any lately?

  3. Hahahaha thanks Clay, you made my day, all the haters come on out, Hate the Heels, one of the best college basketball programs. You couldn’t carry Dean’s jock.

  4. NCSU is like a Greek Tragedy. Every time something good happens for them, they find a way to eff it up.

The real problem with NC State, however, is their fans. They are not lovable losers, but rather insufferable whiners who proudly exchanged Sendek for Lowe and consequently, winning for hoping for .500.

Anything from an NC State fan should immediately be disregarded, whether it concerns UNC or not.

  5. Uh…Ty? The reason they are saying things is because they HAVE been following you for the last four years and they DO know what you can do.

Spazzy, floppy, angry-face white guys who do nothing but bleed and scream on the court don’t generally fare well in the NBA.

  6. Tyler Hansbrough will likely go high in the draft, but I don’t think his stock will rise. I wonder why so many super good tar heels end up as role players in the NBA ? Tyler won’t be much of a dominate force though hw will contribute to rebounding and avg. scoring. He won;t be rookie of the year either despite the generally avg. draft coming out of college.

  7. Why don’t you state fans just follow how your guys are doing in the NBA and quit hatin’ on UNC’s players?

    Oh right, nm…..

  8. No way he will be as good as montross. At least montross was tall. Anyone who actually did watch this guy for 4 years knows that he plays below the rim and his best NBA move will probably be his 15 foot jumper. Which means, enjoy the NBDL Tyler.

  9. You have to take anything a State fan says about basketball with a grain of salt. You have to take anything a State fan says about Carolina basketball with a bushel of sour grapes. There is so much jealousy there it is pathetic how State fans try to denigrate a program that absolutely owns and dominates them. Carolina will probably have more players drafted this draft than State has had drafted the last decade.Enough said.
