We're finally going to get the answer to that age old question - does the QB make the receivers or do the receivers make the QB. After this season, (if Orton Shines) teams will either put much more value on getting those top receivers or (if Denver's receivers regress greatly) not valuing WR nearly as much.

Orton is much better than most people realize. Chicago is a deceiving city, you'll see how much Cutler regresses next season in that system, and it won't be because he's getting old.

Orton doesn't have any problem with arm strength. In fact, if you watch him throw a long ball in practice he has nearly as much distance as any NFL QB. Accuracy will come back when the system requires it and he can dedicate reps to improving that aspect. The issue in Chicago was that his niche was given to him as protecting the ball, not taking any risks, throw it away if you don't have an excellent option. This "safe" approach was fine in Chicago but it doesn't really showcase his talents. Behind a strong line, with a good running game and better receivers and a coach who doesn't emphasize his play to field position over aggression he will be much better in Denver than he ever was in Chicago.

I am also a Bears fan,and Steve O/Tom couldn't be more wrong about Kyle Orton. Most Bears fans wouldn't recognize a very good QB with significant upside potential, if he started 15 games for the their team in 2008. It must be that he was only the 3rd Qb in Big 10 history to throw for 10,000 yards. How about his 21 and 12 record with the Bears? The Bears easily would have been 12 and 4 in 2008, if the defense had not blown three fourth quarter leads against Carolina, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay. Orton was one of the few bright spots on the Bears in 2008 at well, auguable the MVP of the team. Kyle's high level of play was achieved with an extremely pourous offensive line, weak wide receivers, and a very weak offensive scheme. It will be very interesting to see how well Kyle does for the Broncos now that he has a line that can block; receivers that can correctly run routes, create seperation, and actualy catch the ball; better coaching; and an offensive scheme that is similar to Joe Tiller's at Purdue. Try watching the games when you're sober!

Little sour grapes from the Bears fans. Orton is an NFL quarterback. Of course he can throw the ball downfield. The beauty of the McD system is that the QB does NOT have to throw downfield all the time, only when the defense starts pulling in to stop the quick slants that keep generating first downs. I think Orton was pretty good at Purdue and he won games last year in Chicago. Chicago's defense is not what it was a couple of years ago due to injuries. I guess we'll see soon enough.....

i live in chicago and i will say this, with the recievers that denver has, will kyle orton become better?and with the recievers that chicago has will cutler become worst?Thats the question i have,i would rather have the quarterback with the most wins than the quarterback with the strongest arm. Fans are enamored with statistics but coaches live and die by won /loss records, just ask Shanahan....

Bears fan here as well. Agree 100% with Steve O. Orton cannot throw the ball downfield with any accuracy. He's a dink and dunker

I'm a Bears fan and Kyle Orton is awful. He can't throw over 20 yards and will miss wide open recievers. He should stop fooling himself into believing he will be good. Should be a very long and ugly season for Bronco's fans.
