Ed Reed Still Going Strong

June 30, 2009 – 10:45 am by Bunk

Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed just makes plays. Has ever since his days at the U. In 2008, Reed led the NFL with 9 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Reed was in Cleveland last weekend for a former Miami Hurricane teammates’ charity event, so he joined WKNR in Cleveland to talk about how he’s annihilated the Browns over the years, who he thinks should quarterback the Browns, and what he and teammate Ray Lewis hope to do to get Baltimore past the Steelers and over the hump this season after making the AFC Championship Game a year ago.

On new Browns head coach Eric Mangini (as the jocks at WKNR are laughing):

“Man, I don’t know. He didn’t do a bad job with the Jets. I really feel like Cleveland’s going through some things; rebuilding in a sense. They just need to get an identity on that defense and quarterback is a position they need to figure out.”

On if the Browns should go with Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn at quarterback:

“You know, I don’t know. I want to face either one. I really don’t care.  I mean, Derek has the experience but I’m sure there’s competition at that spot for him so, I mean, the best man wins.”

On the Steelers and how they’ll get by them this year:

“They’re a good team, you know what I mean. They stick to their game plan, they prepare well, they have a great coach, great team. You just got to play good football against them.”
