Ron Artest: I’m Tweeting The Fans A Lot Of B.S.
July 2, 2009 – 11:45 am by Tas Melas
Twitter is the closest anyone can get to any player without touching them, but fans should be aware getting too close to Ron Artest right now – solely because he stinks like crap. On the first day of negotiations for NBA free agents, Ron-Ron tweeted this: “THANKS ALOT HOUSTON.:) I HAD FUN:)” In the interview on The Carmichael Dave Show below, he states that: he’s been fibbing to the fans via Twitter, he signed some sort of deal (likely a music contract), he is loving being a free agent and everything that comes along with it, and he sends out some love for the injured Yao Ming.
I know you’re in LA, what’s your big news?
“I just signed. (Host: Who did you sign with? Tell us the deal.) I can’t tell you, you gotta wait for the end of the show. You gotta be listening till the end of the show. (Host: Let me make it clear, you just signed a music deal, right?) You’ll find out later. I just signed a deal. (Host: An NBA deal?) Ummm, I just signed a deal.”
What are your chances in signing back with Houston?
“Realistically, right now, there’s options now, there’s just options. Houston, they’re options, it’s an option, so, who knows what’s gonna happen. A lot of teams show a lot of interest, I gotta thank all the teams for showing interest and having my family a part of their family. My family’s looking forward to this whole process; it’s been fun, I’m enjoying it. No matter what happens, I’m enjoying the conversations with my agent. The first time in ten years that I’ve been a free agent so, I’m like, enjoying myself. I’m having so much fun.”
What about all your twitter messages implying you’re leaving the Rockets?
“I’m actually twittering and I’m tweeting the fans a lot of BS. The fans are freaking out, and the people, and my mother, she’s freaking out, my dad, and my brother, and everybody’s calling me, you know, I’m having fun. Have fun with me.”
How did you feel when you heard about Yao Ming’s injury?
“First off, it didn’t really help my situation, but I’d rather be in this situation and have played with Yao Ming than be in a better situation for myself. The situation I’m in right now with Yao being out and possibly not playing next year, I’m just so happy that I played with Yao Ming. I’m so happy I met him, I’m so happy I met his parents, and his wife. He’s a great man, he loves his country, he loves the people, and loves the children in general. He’s the most humble, the most humblest star in the NBA, I think… I can’t see Yao not playing in the NBA again ’cause he’s just so tough. Yao would lose a foot to play basketball – if he could walk he would be on that court.”
