Aaron Rodgers Discusses Being In The Public Eye Including TMZ
July 3, 2009 – 6:30 am by Lance Zimmerman
All it takes is one year as the starting quarterback for any NFL team, and the paparazzi will swarm to you anytime you’re out in public. It doesn’t hurt to be young and attractive either. Aaron Rodgers had been rumored by a local TV station in Milwaukee to have gotten hitched during the 2008 NFL season. Those rumors turned out to be bogus.
Rodgers however has been spotted with lead singer of the country western band Lady Antebellum, Hillary Scott, and rumors are flying as to their involvement now.
Regardless of the hype surrounding his love life, Aaron’s loving the fact that the attention is focused this year solely on him. Brett Favre is busy hindering another team’s quarterback decision this off season, so Aaron has the luxury to relax, knowing the starting gig in Green Bay is all his in 2009.
Aaron Rodgers joined ESPN Radio in Milwaukee to discuss his off season and preparing for the upcoming season.
On how he’s coping with his personal life becoming more and more in the spotlight:
“It’s just been a different transition knowing that my private life isn’t as private as it used to be. It’s interesting to see how much information is out there and reported on that is largely inaccurate. Start with the post on TMZ about Hillary Scott and I. That was widely inaccurate, the facts that were reported and that’s the same thing with the New York Times, or Post, or whoever reported. They print these things that are largely inaccurate and it’s taken as truth and it runs all over the internet. I could be linked with a lot less attractive people so I don’t really mind that too much.”
Aaron was asked what his worst summer job was:
“I really haven’t ever had a real job, which isn’t a terrible thing. When I was at Cal, in the summertime we would washed windows. The punter and I, he was a good buddy of mine, we would go around to different houses and use ammonia and wash their windows. Get up on the ladder, squeegee them. 10 hours in the backyard. We just went around for spare change really. It wasn’t like an Oklahoma job where Rhett Bomar can hang out at a car dealership and they can pay him a bunch of money, it wasn’t anything like that.”
On if he feels the off season just flew by and he can’t wait for summer camp, or if he’s just ready to start the games now and get after it:
“I’m going to enjoy the next three weeks. I’m looking forward to getting back down to San Diego tomorrow and spending time with my brother and being on the beach and working out with the guys. I don’t think anybody really loves training camp, but it is good bonding time for the guys and a time you can get yourself ready for the grind for 17 weeks and beyond. You look forward to the pre-season games, but you really just want to stay healthy and get to the ones that really matter.”
