Keyshawn Johnson Ready To Join The Ranks Of Martha Stewart & Co.

July 9, 2009 – 10:59 am by Michael Bean

Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN NFL analyst Keyshawn Johnson already was not the most popular person on the NFL landscape – be it with fans, current or former players. The 3-time Pro Bowler just rubs some people the wrong way I suppose. I guess that’s not totally a surprise considering he was more famous for saying ‘just get me the damn ball’ than for anything else. Johnson joined WFAN in New York to talk about the upcoming NFL season and to discuss his new interior decorating show called ‘Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design’, schedule to air weekends on A&E.

On if he went to interior design school and how exactly this passion got started:

“No I did not. It all started because I bought a house when I played with the Jets and I need somebody to design it so I hired some interior designers that basically didn’t have a clue what they were doing. So I had to take the project over myself so from that point on I’ve kind of been in to the whole interior design/fashion world ever since then. And some people got wind of it and felt like I knew what I was doing.”

On if the story that Warren Sapp once told WFAN is true that Keyshawn once complained about the rotation of former teammate Chris Simms’ passes after dropping a perfect throw from him:

“I did probably say something about Chris throwing the ball because he’s a left-handed quarterback. I’ve never had a lefty throw the ball to me, I’ve never played with a lefty and it’s a different rotation when you’re used to playing with right-handed quarterbacks so all of a sudden, a guy throws it to you left-handed, of course it’s a different rotation, you’ve got to get used to that. So that very well could be true for those who don’t understand football and really don’t know it. As far as Warren goes, Warren’s Warren. That’s who he is. You look at that, you move forward in life, you don’t dwell on things in the past.”
