When I was 16, my club soccer team played a local women’s DII soccer team. The team included 3 players who were on the roster for the Nigerian women’s world cup team.

We won handily.

Isner was being kind…Your top club teaching pro or high end college player would wipe the court with them…I’d even go so far as to say an elite high school program’s #1 player would give them a solid match…

this is absolutely the truth. i sit across from a guy who was beating guys ranked 700-800 back in his prime and he’s maintained for years that you could go all the way back to the 1,000 ranked man. hell, sharapova’s “hitter” could destroy her.

it’s the same thing as when those 5 male students would practice against tennessee’s dominant national title teams and would dismantle them.

@HA HAHAHA – Actually, he’d destroy them. Back in 1998 at the Australian, the 203rd ranked player, dude named Karsten Braasch played BOTH Williams Sisters and DESTROYED THEM

6-1 and 6-2.

He actually even smoked cigarettes on the changeover to rub it in. And the guy was old and out of tennis at that point.

So, sorry, but a guy close to the top ten would just annihilate them.

Serena is obviously good enough to beat the little girls and all those russians that double fault into defeats, but the ATP tour is very different.

Much better footwork, more spin, more power, mentally stronger, much better serve, more variety and so on.

Isner is absolutely right. Stating a fact is hardly the same as beeing chauvinistic.

anyone who thinks that women have any chance against any man ranked in the top 100 is dreaming.
i would bet that the 1000th ranked male could beat the world no 1 woman around half of the time, maybe more.
