"He would basically be yelled at for shooting ever when he was with the Lakers. He’d be taking shots from Kobe and those other guys. "

Really? I don't think this is true at all. The Lakers in fact had to work on him to start taking the open shot - and Kobe was a constant source of encouragement. Sad to hear someone as respected as Morey come out with this tripe..

I'm not even from Houston, or a Rockets fan in any way, but with Morey at the helm I wouldn't put anything short of a 5 seed past the Rockets this year or any year in the near future. I was trying to think of a GM or coach in another pro sport to compare him to to solidify that point, but I just realized that there really never has been another like him. He is a true pioneer and one of (if not #1) the most innovative minds in pro sports. Winning all those consecutive games 2 seasons ago, and going to game 7 last year with the Lakes with a future Hall of Famer out with injuries are 2 of the most underrated NBA accomplishments in the past decade.

I can't begin to express how excited I am to see what he does in the summer of 10. I am going to strongly consider a lot of the guys he picks up for my fantasy team next year (I have Ariza and Scola this year), because you know that while everyone battles and throws way-too-big contracts at the big names, Morey is going to relatively quietly pick up guys who were mis-used or under appreciated on their old teams and turn them into pieces of a championship puzzle.

I should point out that I'm not one of the nerds who think he is Elvis, I'm just an 18 year old who reads True Hoop every day. After making that statement I just realized that reading True Hoop every day and Bill Simmons articles whenever they come out (once every cycle of the Lunar calendar) is the sports equivalent of staying at a Holiday Inn express last night.

Most underrated x factor of the NBA season this year, is the Grover factor. The guys who worked out this summer with Tim Grover: T-Mac, Gilbert, Will Bynum, Shannon Brown, D-Wade, Devin Harris..... watch them all have big time seasons... just watch....

Morey knows what he's in for. They're overmatched most nights, but they will play hard and make it hard for other teams to score. The rotation will sort itself out in a few weeks.
