Visanthe Shiancoe and the Vikings Have Unfinished Business with the Cardinals
January 5, 2010 – 9:45 am by timgunterAs the NFL wild card games get underway this weekend the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints will be at home waiting and watching to find out who their next opponent will be. The Vikings finished the regular season with a 12-4 record, which gave them the number two seed, and will play the winner of the Green Bay vs. Arizona game. Who would have thought that Brett Favre would have one of his best seasons ever at the age of 40 and have the Vikings on the verge of a Super Bowl title? Not me! In fact I don’t think they will make it out of the first round. I think Green Bay is going to beat the Cardinals in Arizona and come to Minnesota and knock the Vikings out of the playoffs. What a scene that would be if Favre and the Vikings play the Packers. How fitting would it be if Aaron Rodgers hands Brett Favre his last loss of his career? (Editor’s note: I don’t think this is Brett Favre’s last year) For now the Vikings will have to sit and wait and hope to play the Cardinals.
Visanthe Shiancoe joined The Dan Patrick Show to talk about whether Brett Favre lifts weights, who he thinks is the NFL MVP this year, whether you can put Chris Johnson into the same category as Adrian Peterson, and who he wants to face in the playoffs.
Whether Brett Favre lifts weights:
“Yeah he does as a matter of fact. He does. You have got to lift weights or do something with your body to run around at his age. He has to compensate somewhere.”
Whether Favre is his MVP:
“I would say a good candidate of it. A good candidate to the MVP. (Host: Peyton Manning? Chris Johnson?) Chris Johnson is an animal. I would say top two is: Favre and Chris Johnson.”
Whether you can put Chris Johnson into the same category as Adrian Peterson:
“Oh man you are trying to back me into a wall here man. They have two different styles of running I feel. Adrian is more of a power and explosive back. Chris Johnson is like a finesse and quick back. Two different styles. (Host: Chris Johnson is probably the fastest guy in the league?) Yeah exactly. What did he run like a 4.2 coming out or something like that? (Host: Yes and then you watch him…) You think he is a little faster than that. If you look at his speed compared to everybody else’s speed on the field I mean he is just whipping in and out like a Corvette through traffic you know Dan?”
Who is the best team in the NFC:
“The Vikings.”
Who is the second-best team:
“Second best team? Hmm. I would say the Cowboys right now. The Cowboys are hot man. They have ran off a little momentum… Hopefully they do continue their December or January postseason bounce I want to say.”
On who he wants to face in the playoffs:
“Well you know we are going to face either the Cardinals or Green Bay. The Cardinals with them we have kind of unfinished business. Green Bay that will be just kind of a circus. It is kind of like you got into a fight and you got beat up a little bit by the bully and you are ready to face that bully again with the Cardinals.”
Whether he got the feeling that the Giants quit at some point in the game Sunday:
“Um good questions. Good questions Dan. You know how to ask them. Did they quit? I don’t know if they quit but it is hard getting a spark going when you are down 41-0. That is kind of hard. You know they stayed on the field. They didn’t quit.”

One Response to “Visanthe Shiancoe and the Vikings Have Unfinished Business with the Cardinals”
It is not guaranteed the Vikings face the winner of the Cards/Packers game. The Vikings face the highest remaining seed, whereas the Saints face the lowest remaining seed.
That means if Dallas beats Philadelphia again, the Vikings would host the Cowboys and the Saints would get the Packers or Cardinals.
