Dana White Calls Fedor’s Management Team a “Douche”

June 21, 2010 – 10:50 am by Chris Fedor

Is there anything that Dana White hasn’t done right for the sport of MMA?  Dana White basically created the UFC from scratch and now it has turned into something enormous.  Not only has he done a great job or marketing the sport, but he has also done a great job of putting on some of the top fights that people want to see.  On top of that, White is extremely brash, he is very opinionated, and he’s just so refreshing because he doesn’t hold much back.  How many guys of his stature would come on a radio show the very next day after he already did an interview the day before to take phone calls from listeners and play a little game of douche or no douche?  Not too many people would, but like I said Dana White is a lot different than other guys.

Dana White joined 790 the Ticket in Miami to take phone calls from UFC fans, play douche or no douche, and talk about why Fedor won’t fight in the UFC.

On who he has been the most angry with:

“I’ve had a few.  I would probably have to say with Tito (Ortiz).  Tito and I had a relationship before we bought the UFC and things kind of went down between he and I at a critical time of the business.  I would have to say that was the most angry I’ve been.  Plus I was a lot angrier when this thing wasn’t doing well.  I’ve lightened up a little.”

On whether or not he is good at predicting fights:

“I’m the worst.  You never know in this sport.  You never know who’s going to win and who’s going to lose and that’s part of the excitement of it.”

On James Toney getting involved in UFC:

“I’ll be the first one to call somebody out for putting on what I like to call a freak show.  A freak show meaning I know mixed martial artists, a guy who has a complete game, a stand-up game, a ground game, wrestling, could beat a boxer or any guy who has just one style.  James Toney came and chased me around, talking smack, calling me names, and that kinds of stuff.  He’s a guy who I’ve respected for years so I ended up making this fight.  Anything can happen when two guys get in there.  A guy that can punch like James Toney can and a guy who has a well-rounded game like Randy Couture.  It’s gonna be an interesting fight.”

On whether or not Anderson Silva and George St. Pierre will fight each other:

“People ask me that all the time.  This is what I believe.  I believe my job is to put on fights that people want to see.  I keep hearing that and if enough people want to see it, I guess I’m gonna have to do it.”

On whether or not Strikeforce and UFC will join forces to put a card on together:

“It will never happen in a million years.  They are a minor league.  Listen I have come to the realization and everyone else needs to too that Fedor (Emeliananko) doesn’t want to fight the best guys in the world.  Believe me when I tell you guys I have done everything in my power, I have flown to crazy parts of the world, done all this stuff, been on the phone for hours, not hung out with my kids on weekends because I’m on the phone with these lunatics and just can’t make the deal.  They don’t want to do it so we gotta get over it.”

Douche or no Douche:

(Host: Guy with two cell phones?) “I got two.  Probably a douche I don’t know.”

(Host: Bragging about fantasy trades?) “Total douche.”

(Host: Guy with rhinestones?) “Super, double, triple, over-the-top douche.”

(Host: Sherdog?) “Douche.”

(Host: Fedor’s management?) “Douche.”

(Host: Tito Ortiz?) “No Douche.”

(Host: Jay Glazer?) “No Douche.”

  2. As far as league commissioners (that’s what I’m equating Dana’s position to, I guess?) Dana White is def the best. I love to hear his no non-sense approach
