Jared Allen on Disgruntled Percy Harvin wanting out of Minnesota: “I have zero clue. I am watching SportsCenter just like everybody.”

June 22, 2012 – 8:15 am by Steven Cuce

Jared Allen was an absolute freak last season. No.69 doubled his sack total from the previous season, finishing with 22 sacks, forced four fumbles and even an interception. He was the one bright spot on a rebuilding Vikings team that finished 3-13.

Allen was just half a sack away from tying the single-season record Michael Strahan set in 2001, and he believes the training he’s doing out in Arizona will bring about another outstanding season. As for Percy Harvin? The Vikings star defensive end doesn’t have the slightest clue of what is going on with his supposed disgruntled teammate. Allen just knows that the Harvin trade rumors have become the talk of the NFL right now.

Jared Allen joined KFAN in Minneapolis with The Power Trip Morning Show to discuss his training regimen for this season, having any inside information on the Percy Harvin story, training camp changing based on Percy Harvin’s status with the Vikings and being ranked No.13 on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2012.

How’s your training going out in Arizona?

“Oh absolutely phenomenal. This year I was trying to duplicate the same thing I did last year and I have been able to do that. I have gotten a good amount of training and I think I am going to kick it up a little bit and head up to Lake Tahoe for a little and do some high altitude training. It’s been going good and as I get older I have to tweak things to keep up with these young guys. You know?”

Do you have any idea what is going on with the Percy Harvin story?

“I have zero clue. I am watching SportsCenter just like everybody else just trying to figure this all out.”

Does the Percy Harvin story change anything that is going on with the team? Has it changed anything that will go on with mini camp or training camp for you?

“No. Unfortunately there is always a business side to this game if you wanna call it. It’s one of those things where it sucks and obviously we all love having Percy Harvin as a teammate. He’s a great player. Our turnover rate in this business is so high whether it is injuries or people moving on or just for whatever reason, so it sucks, but you get use to it and the way you get through it is just focusing on what you have to do to get yourself ready and the people that are left at the end of the training camp that is who you are going to go forward with.”

You were No.13 on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2012. Where should you have been?

“You know what? I always want to be No.1. Obviously I can’t throw a football that well, which I think I can. That was a lot better than 80th where they had me last year.”
