Larry Fitzgerald isn’t Paying Attention to the Replacement Officials and isn’t Worried About the Quarterback Battle

September 13, 2012 – 8:30 am by Brad Gagnon

The Arizona Cardinals are 1-0 after surviving against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. That means they’ve now won six out of seven games dating back to the end of last year. So they’re in the mix, despite the fact they don’t know who their No. 1 quarterback is from week to week.

Cardinals superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald joined Artrell and Andy on Daybreak on Fox Sports Radio to discuss the quarterback situation with John Skelton and Kevin Kolb, the replacement officials and Peyton Manning’s return to the field in Denver.

On the replacement officials:

“After one week I would say there’s not really much of a difference. I really don’t pay that much attention, to be honest with you. You know how it is when you’re on the field, you’re in the flow, you’re in your game. You don’t really think about all the things that are going on around you. You just try to go out there and be and play fast. I don’t think there’s much of a difference right now, but obviously there’s been some calls missed along the way, but that’s to be expected. These guys are coming in and doing the best they can.”

On if not knowing who’s going to be throwing to him affects his timing:

“I don’t think it’s too big. This is not like high school, where between your starter and your backup you’ve got a senior going to a junior. Both these guys are professionals, they work really hard, they throw good balls. So I wouldn’t say there’s a huge discrepancy in terms of accuracy or placement of the ball. We’re running the same exact system, and they both have been in the system for two years now, so I don’t think there’s that big of a difference.”

On Peyton Manning’s return:

“He’s back. The way he operated that second half, it was reminiscent of Peyton Manning of old. So I’m happy for him — as a friend I’m really happy to see him performing at a high level.”
