Nick Lachey Tries to Make Sense of Tiger Woods’ Situation, Then Hangs up On Radio Host
December 21, 2009 – 6:45 am by timgunter
Nick Lachey is not a stranger to having a divorce drawn out and exposed through the media. If you recall, he and Jessica Simpson had a nasty divorce over what surfaced following a wild bachelor party that Lachey attended. After divorcing Lachey, Simpson dated Johm Mayer and then started dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo. Now supposedly, Simpson is linked to being one of Tiger Woods’ latest extra-marital affairs. Her and Tiger are on the front cover of the newest edition of Star magazine and she is pissed about it. Simpson wrote on her Twitter account yesterday to lash out at the supposed fabrication, “Can’t believe that I’m on the cover of star magazine with Tiger Woods, what a JOKE! ‘The Shocking Inside Story’ is A LIE!” Simpson is no stranger to drama and Lachey is not surprised at all.
Nick Lachey joined the always entertaining Dan LeBetard Show on 790 the Ticket in Miami to talk about how he is viewing what is going on with Tiger Woods, what it feels like to be in the middle of a media firestorm, and whether people should feel bad for Tiger Woods. To no surprise, Nick Lachey hangs up on them after irritating him with Jessica Simpson questions.
On how he is viewing what is going on with Tiger Woods:
“Well I don’t think anyone truly knows what is happening there. Frankly I think that this is none of our business except for he and his family. I do appreciate how hard it is to go through things on a personal level like he is and have to do it in the public eye. There is no easy answer and no easy way but at the end of the day the things that truly matter are your family and your personal relationships. I hope he is dealing with those and whatever capacity he needs to.”
On what it feels like to be in the middle of a media firestorm:
“Probably how you think it feels. Not great. It is not normal the way life should be but it is the way life is so you have to do deal with it. Unfortunately no one is going to feel sorry for you. You are in the public eye. You are a celebrity and I think the same is true for him. He just has to try not to let that stuff get to him. I think that is the only advice you can give to people. Don’t be affected or try not to be affected by what people write, speculate, say. What truly matters is what you know your reality to be in your own relationship and you have to deal with that as an isolated thing.”
Whether people should feel bad for Tiger Woods:
“I think people should feel bad for him in a sense that he is going through a tough time in his life. I don’t think there is anyone of us that would say that we would never go through a difficult time in our relationship. Maybe not to the degree he is. I think it is unfair he has to do that and has to do it in the public eye but at the same time life isn’t fair. It is what it is and people are not going to feel sorry for him and so he has to deal with it the best he can and I think that is what we all have to do.”
When he and Jessica Simpson split and whether he was mad when she went out with Tony Romo:
“I couldn’t have cared less to be honest with you. (Host: You were just done?) Yeah guys. We have all been through break-ups right? We move on with life and I have been happy in a relationship for three years and the last thing I am worried about is who she is dating.”
Whether he is getting irritated by the questions:
“No they are great questions guys. Really insightful. Good stuff.”
Whether he would prefer to talk about the Sing-Off on NBC:
“I thought that was what I was calling in about. Apparently not.”
