Doug Will No Longer Be The Most Popular Flutie In The New England Area

Doug Flutie spent some time during his NFL career with the New England Patriots and is one of Boston’s favorite sons for the memories he left behind at Boston College. Now his daughter will carry on that football tradition and the Flutie name in another way. She will be doing it with pom-poms and rooting on the Patriots as a cheerleader. Alexa Flutie is the reigning Miss Massachusetts, she is 23-years-old, she is smoking hot, she was one of 31 women named to the squad recently, and now there might finally be somebody in Foxboro on Sundays that actually has better hair than Tom Brady.

Doug Flutie joined 98.5 the Sports Hub in Boston with Damon Amendolara to talk about how he feels about his daughter making the Patriots cheerleading squad, what she had to go through to be a part of the squad, the idea of Andre Tippet’s daughter being a part of the squad, and how excited he is for his daughter.

How tough the process was for his daughter:

“Oh my goodness. Hundreds of girls went out for I think six new spots this year, my daughter being one of them. They go through five rounds of cuts, got down to about 40 girls, and then there was two week boot camp. They were running these ramps at the stadium, doing three mile runs, and by the middle of the second week she was just like I want this to be done, let me know, cut me now.”

Andre Tippet’s daughter being a part of the squad too:

“Little football knowhow in the cheerleading ranks. That’s another part of it. They had to take a written football test. They’ve gotta know a little bit. They’ve gotta know the length of Tom Brady’s hair (laughing). Some general informational football as well.”

How exciting it is that his daughter is a New England Patriots cheerleader:

“It really was. My daughter went to school for dance. She goes down to New York all the time for Broadway auditions and things of that nature. Then this on the side. She’s a backup dancer for a young act that is going on the road soon and things like that. That’s her career and her life.”

On cheerleaders being smarter than people give them credit for:

“They had to take that written exam. I think it was a 20 question written exam and they’ve got to get a 100 on it.”
