Albert Haynesworth’s First Interview After Signing Huge Contract

Haynesworth is a bad, bad manThe Redskins haven’t had much success signing defensive tackles to huge contracts.  Sean Gilbert, Dana Stubblefield, and Dan Wilkinson never leaved up to the monstrous contracts Daniel Snyder gave them. Albert Haynesworth and his 7 year and $100 million dollar contract is gargantuan. I thought he was the most disruptive defensive player in the NFL last year, but you never know what’s going to happen to a player after he gets paid.Haynesworth had a 5 pm ET press conference today and then joined The Sports Reporters on ESPN 980 in DC.  He sure said all the right things during his interview.

On Why He Chose The Redskins When The Bucs Offered Him Similar Money:

“Just looking at this team and where we’re at right now.  We’re only a few plays or a few games away from being at 12-4 or a 13-3 team like I had last year. This is not an old team, this is not a young team, this team is just right.”

On The Dallas Face Stomping Incident

“I want people to remember my name for being a great football player, not for having the longest suspension in NFL history.” On what he spoke about with Coach Zorn“Are you going to use me the same way Tennessee did or do we plan on changing me to a different type guy.  One thing, we know we were going to get a lot of money out there, but I also didn’t want to get a lot of money out there and just become another guy and be a guy that I guess took the money and ran.”
