Charles Barkley Packers Seahawks Nfl Replacement Officials Gambling

Charles Barkley “Got Screwed Four Times” On His Monday Night Football Bet
September 26, 2012 – 10:15 am by Chris Fedor
Monday night’s terrible call in the Packers-Seahawks game affected so many people in and around the NFL. The whole NFC playoff picture has been altered and the loss could have a lasting impact on so many different teams. Furthermore, Fantasy Football games were decided by that play. And then there are the people that gambled on the game getting screwed at the last second by a terrible call by replacement officials who don’t belong on the field. Charles Barkley falls into the category of the latter. Everyone knows that the TNT NBA analyst likes to gamble. Well, he had his money on the Packers Monday night, and it is safe to say Sir Charles is not pleased by the outcome.
Charles Barkley joined 97.5 the Fanatic in Philadelphia with Mike Missanelli to talk about him losing money on the Packers-Seahawks game, what his emotions were like watching the game, the idea that owners care about the fans, why he thinks Tiger Woods should fire back at his critics and whether he thinks the Eagles should bench Michael Vick.
On him losing money on the Packer-Seahawks game:
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this mad in my entire life. I got robbed [Monday] night. I’m just angry. I love to gamble, I can live with winning and losing, but I don’t ever want to get jobbed like I did [Monday] night. I’m going to give you a quick synopsis. Everybody is going crazy over the catch, but I got screwed on the roughing the passer, I got screwed on the pass interference, I got screwed on the interception and I found out today that they actually have a real official in the replay booth who could’ve overruled that? I got screwed four times and that makes it even worse.”
What his emotions were like watching the game:
“It was a fluke game because the line was three and when Cedric Benson fumbled I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ There was a a lot of emotion going on. They didn’t get the first down and they’re only going to kick a field goal and be up two so I’m screwed. Then they went for the challenge and got the first down and I’m like, ‘Whew, I might get a lucky break here.’ Then they didn’t get the first down, Cedric Benson fumbled the ball and I’m like, ‘They might take a safety and then it becomes a push.’ I was all over the place. Then I jump up and down when they get the interception on the roughing the passer so my emotions were obviously all over the place. I love to gamble, I’m always going to gamble, but I just don’t like to get screwed like that.”
On the idea that the owners care about the fans:
“You think the guys that play with the replacement officials are concerned about the fans or the integrity of the game? These guys are all about the cash bro. These guys don’t care about the fans! They used replacement players! This notion that these owners are worried about the integrity of the game, I’m like, wait a minute, a few years ago they used replacement players. You think they’re worried about replacement referees? You think you’re going to get an Aaron Rodgers off the street? Or Tom Brady off the street? They got players off the street to play football and the players came across the picket line. “
Why he thinks Tiger should fire back at his critics:
“I think Tiger should’ve been snapping back at a lot of people over the last couple of years. A lot of people have trashed Tiger the last couple of years and he just always takes the high road. He doesn’t have to take the high road because, as I have always told him, I hope you don’t think all of these people are your damn friends, do you? Don’t confuse you making them money and you doing these commercials, you don’t really think all these people like you, do you? Then when he did wrong in his business then everybody turned against him. There have been some people that have been trashing him for the last couple of years and he needs to keep a list. OK, I’m going to get that guy back, I’m going to get that guy back because there have been a lot of people who have trashed Tiger the last couple of years.”
On Michael Vick:
“He’s got to play better. He’s got to play better. They’re both on the hot seat and I understand it. That’s just the way this business is. When people and fans say something bad about me or anybody. I say I dont take it personally, that’s just how it is in our business. If Michael Vick doesn’t play better, then he gots to go. That’s just how it is. It ain’t right and it ain’t wrong. That’s just how our business works. If he keeps averaging three or four turnovers per game and the Eagles aren’t winning, then they’re going to sit him down. Andy Reid is a great coach and a great guy, but if he dont start winning, then he gots to go.”
