When he was on the field, Darren McFadden was one of the most dangerous running backs in the league last season. The problem was that he was off the field more often than not. A lisfranc injury to his right foot cost him the second half of his season, and the Raiders stood little chance to make a playoff push without their star back. But now, McFadden says he’s feeling great, and there’s renewed hope in Oakland.Darren McFadden joined The Rise Guys on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco to discuss his health situation, the new coaching staff in Oakland and the return of the zone-blocking scheme.
On how his foot is feeling:
“I feel like my foot is doing great so far, it’s been holding up for me great. I’m just looking forward to getting out there on the field and showing everybody what a healthy Darren McFadden can do.”
On the new atmosphere in Oakland with a new coaching staff in place:
“I can just feel a different mood and just a whole different feeling around the whole team, and everybody’s responding great to Coach Allen. So I’m looking forward to seeing what guys are gonna do out there and do during the season.”
On going back to a zone-blocking scheme:
“I’m looking forward to it. I played for Coach Knapp my rookie year and it’s one of the offenses I’m kind of used to, so it’s just kind of a review for me, just getting everything back to where it was. I feel like it’s gonna be a great scheme for us.”
