The Washington Redskins had better hope that the bye week fixed them, because the banged-up ‘Skins were really struggling before getting a week off prior to the season’s final stretch gets started in Week 11.
Even if the bye didn’t help a lot, at least DeAngelo Hall and his teammates will likely have a chance to feast on a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start. DeAngelo Hall joined The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., to discuss his bye week, his return to work, the Washington Redskins’ playoff chances and this week’s game against the reeling Philadelphia Eagles.
On how his time off was (bye week):
“Much-needed.”
On if he wanted to come back (tongue in cheek, we presume):
“No. Absolutely not.”
On still having a chance to make the playoffs:
“I don’t even know our record — 3-6? To be 3-6 and actually control your own destiny is pretty rare. So when we met Monday that was the topic of the meeting. Coach put the records up and showed us that we actually have a chance, and that’s all you can ask for, especially when you’ve went out and kinda stunk it up the first half of the season. To actually have a chance to still be playing for something at this point, with three wins, is definitely surprising. But we gotta take advantage of it.”
On feeling like they have a chance:
“We feel like we got a chance. We definitely feel like we got a chance. … We’re going to definitely pull out everything — pull out all the stops, throw the kitchen sink at them, to try to pull this thing out.”
On this week’s game against Philadelphia:
“Our job is to keep them reeling, still not being able to put it all together. We can’t let these guys jump on us. We can’t give them any confidence. From watching some of their games from a distance — I haven’t broke down film, just watching some of their games on TV — if you can jump on them and not let those guys have that one big play early in the game to give them that confidence and momentum, you got a chance to beat this team. Obviously, not having Mike [Vick] out there running around is going to help us a lot.”
