John Calipari Eyes March

Like they seemingly have done every year since John Calipari arrived in Memphis, the Tigers are once again steamrolling Conference USA. They are again undefeated in league play and at 24-3 and ranked #5 heading into the homestretch, Memphis has a great shot at a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament if they win out. At worse they’re looking at a #2 seed I’d imagine. That has to please Coach Calipari, considering his team lost a number of integral pieces to his team’s championship game run a year ago. Listen to Calipari on WFAN Wednesday talk about the final four games of the regular season, what he thinks his team can still do to improve before putting on their dancing shoes and gearing up for March Madness, and what his seniors can accomplish if they can win a few more games.
“Here’s the thing that’s really unique. And again, we got to be lucky enough to get to 30 wins, but if we do Antonio Anderson and Chris Dozier become the winningest players in the history of college basketball. No player who has ever played this game has won more games than those two.” 25 down. 5 to go. And with multiple Conference USA games, the Conference USA tournament and a likely cupcake in Round 1 of March Madness, looks like it’s a safe bet for Calipari’s special seniors.
