In the summer, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all got together to form their own Big Three in Miami. However, there were two other moves made that offseason that allowed Miami to form their Free Agent Five. Udonis Haslem was re-signed to bring toughness and leadership to a team with championship aspirations and Mike Miller was brought to South Beach to light up the scoreboard from beyond the arc. While most of his time in Miami had been spent rehabbing a multitude of injuries and watching from the sidelines, Miller, hobbled off the bench last night and delivered the kind of performance that validated why he was signed in the first place. In a championship-closeout game Miller dropped 23 points, including seven three pointers and if this was indeed his last NBA game because his body looks broken, he can say he went out as a Champion and played a large part in bringing another title to South Beach.
Mike Miller joined Fox Sports Radio with Ben Maller to talk about how it feels to have an NBA title, how it feels to have such a big role in winning the title and when he thought that it was going to be his night.
How it feels to have an NBA title:
“Thanks. It feels great obviously. It’s what we all came here for so we’re going to enjoy it a little bit.”
How it feels to have such a big role in Miami winning:
“It’s a great feeling to be a part of this first of all. I’ve now played in two NBA Finals and you never believe that would be a possibility so to be a part of two NBA Finals, to make a difference in a Finals game is a dream come true.”
When he thought that it was going to be his night:
“You don’t really think about it but obviously I got some open looks and to be able to knock them down, the one thing you tell yourself is you do it so many times, this will be my 12th season, I’ve done it in practice and games so many times so just go out there with confidence and let them fly.”
