Paul Posluszny on Jaguars Teammate Daryl Smith: “I don’t know (a 4-3 linebacker) who’s better in the NFL”

The AFC South is anyone’s to win this year, and the Jacksonville Jaguars have made some stellar improvements on both sides of the ball. One is in area where they didn’t need to upgrade: the linebacking corps, where Paul Posluszny, Daryl Smith and Clint Session are holding it down.
Paul Posluszny joined Pete Prisco on WFXJ in Jacksonville to provide an update on the status of the shoulder he injured late in the season, to explain his improved play in coverage and to discuss the strengths of teammate Daryl Smith.
On how his injured shoulder is coming on:
“It’s doing really well now. I hurt it last game of the year but I feel like I’m back to 100 percent as far as strength and stability in the shoulder. I’m not allowed to be in any form of contact yet, but working out, training, lifting, running — all of that has been great so far.”
On his improved performance in coverage in his first year in Jacksonville:
“I think the main thing is we were playing coverages here in Jacksonville that I was very familiar with, that I was very comfortable doing. My last year in Buffalo we had some changes, and I was asked to do some things that I hadn’t done in my career before. And I admit I was poor in coverage my last year in Buffalo, because I wasn’t completely comfortable with the job that I was being asked to do but I just tried to do it. But now that I’m here, and with the scheme that we have here I feel like I’m a good fit for it and I’m completely comfortable with all my responsibilities on the field. So now I’m back to myself again, I feel like I’m playing with the capabilities that I have.”
On teammate Daryl Smith:
“4-3 outside linebackers, I don’t know who’s better in the NFL. He’s that type of player. The year that he had last year — all the big plays, tackles for loss, interceptions. He’s an unbelievable player and he can do anything that we ask him to do — rush the passer, play the run, cover. He’s so well rounded and he’s so talented and that’s why he’s such a great teammate and we love just playing with him.”
